Born and raised as Walter in Bujumbura, Alan settles in Brussels with his family at the age of 16. It’s ok if you didn’t follow, him either still don’t get how he grew up with everyone calling him his middle name… There begins his journey through the maze of a hard-to-tame cultural in-between. A restless adventure that will first lead him to an unavoidable identity crisis, before rewarding him with a bright light at the end of the tunnel, in the shape of the “alan Walt” project.
Why choose when you can have both?
Always an open-minded kid blessed with a flair for fashion, alan Walt has taken upon the habit to translate his struggles to stay true to his roots while living up to his new environment’s expectations by dressing the part of this new ambivalence. Often would you see him wearing a classic buttoned-up shirt, tucked into some baggy pants… A daring combination, always topped with a custom cap, that slowly but surely became the key ingredient to his silhouette, as well as the tangible link between his North and his South.
Today, through his innovative line, he finalizes a trying yet inspiring travel that has led him to himself. alan Walt – ethnoccidental™ collection shows here and hides there its patterns, inviting you to look closer and to never judge a look by its color. A symbol of hope for all those who seek recognition through their uniqueness rather than through the color of their skin, the Wild At Heart caps gather under their visors a community of humans eager to tell their truth through the element of fashion.
It is about making a difference.
